Green Brook Township Democratic Candidates

Jen Dawson

Position: Green Brook Committee Member

Jen Dawson graduated Kean University in 2006 with a B.A. degree in Elementary Education and English. She has lived in Green Brook for 29 years, with her children going through the Green Brook and Watchung Hills school system.

While in Green Brook, Jen has worked as a teacher in and out of the Green Brook school system, worked on the Green Brook Recreational Committee, was a CCD Teacher at St. Luke’s in North Plainfield, and has volunteered with Girl Scouts as a troop leader. Currently, Jen works for Somerset County.

Jen believes her time working as a teacher has helped her learn to be open, honest, and caring to all humans. As a council member, she plans to address flooding concerns and rising taxes through strategic planning, while supporting local businesses.

Arthur Goodman

Position: Green Brook Committee Member

Arthur Goodman has lived in Green Brook for the past 38 years, where he raised his children who went through the Green Brook schooling system. Academically, Art has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from SUNY Albany. He later obtained a Master of Science degree in Biology and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from University of Arizona.

In his time here, Art has served on the Green Brook Township Board of Education for 20 years, and was also on the Green Brook Township Committee.

As a Green Brook Committee Member, Art plans on supporting local businesses to help lower the rate of local taxes. To do so, Art plans on prioritizing transparency within the local government to ensure all Green Brook voices are heard.

Somerset County Democratic Candidates

County Commissioner Paul Drake

Position: Somerset County Commissioner

Paul Drake currently serves as Deputy Director of the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners, where he brings decades of experience in planning, environmental stewardship, and public service to county government. A lifelong Somerset County resident, Paul lives in Hillsborough with his wife and has dedicated his career to building stronger, more sustainable communities.

Paul is a licensed Professional Planner and Certified Environmental Planner and before joining the Board of County Commissioners in 2021, he served on the Hillsborough Township Committee, the Hillsborough Planning Board, the Hillsborough Zoning Board of Adjustment, the Somerset County Parks Commission, and the Somerset County Energy Council. 

As a County Commissioner, Paul oversees Engineering and Planning, Cultural & Heritage, Farmland Preservation, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Historic Preservation, and Open Space initiatives. He also serves as liaison to numerous county boards and regional organizations focused on transportation, parks, agriculture, sustainability, and economic development, helping to shape Somerset County’s long-term future.

Paul has worked with the National Park Service, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the New Jersey State Planning Commission, and as a Public Affairs Manager in the private sector. He also teaches urban planning and design courses at Rutgers University, where he received the University’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 2014.

County Commissioner Elizabeth Graner

Position: Somerset County Commissioner

Elizabeth Graner is a Somerset County Commissioner, educator, and longtime community advocate. Liz is dedicated to serving the people of Somerset County and to ensuring county government is responsive, transparent, and focused on improving the quality of life for all residents. 

A lifelong educator, Liz has spent more than two decades as an English teacher in Rahway Public Schools and before joining the Board of County Commissioners, she served on the Somerset County Board of Taxation and the Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women.

As a County Commissioner, Elizabeth oversees portfolios including Human Services, Planning, the Office on Aging and Disability Services, Youth Services, Veterans Services, the Richard Hall Community Health and Wellness Center, and workforce development initiatives. She is committed to ensuring county government is responsive, transparent, and focused on improving the quality of life for all Somerset County residents.

NJ Congressional District 7 (CD-7) Candidate

Rebecca Bennett

Position: New Jersey Congresswoman for CD-7

Rebecca Bennett is a former U.S. Navy helicopter pilot, officer in the Air National Guard,
business leader in healthcare, and mom of two. Rebecca served in the Navy for over a
decade as a helicopter pilot and aircraft commander. After serving her country for over
fifteen years in the military and making waves in healthcare innovation, Rebecca is
running for Congress to build a better future for our community. As a mom to two young
girls, Rebecca understands first-hand the challenges of balancing work & family while
navigating inflation and the rising cost of living.
